This dress is fabulous, chock full of drama and refinement. The color is soooo soft and pretty. It is unlined so I wore some light shapewear which worked just perfectly. It has a lot of stretch, which is great for my curves, however as others mentioned it is short waisted so I did have to pull it down a few times.
It’s been chilly so I was concerned about the sleeves and a coat, but I draped them forward and was able to put my coat on no problem. I also changed out the belt for a contrasting color but that’s just my styling prowess.
I love this dress and would love to see it in other colors. Be aware that it is slightly short-waisted which will affect its length. Also it could benefit from a lining underneath. If your shoulders are broad you may find yourself tugging to get the pads in the right place, too Otherwise I love the concept and enjoyed wearing the dress!
I’d been stalking this dress for quite awhile, so when a sale came along I jumped at the chance. It has a bit of stretch - I was able to snag this in a size small after reaching out to the company with my measurements. The sleeves bring just the right amount of drama! Can’t wait to wear it!
Let's start with the cons. Number one, for this price point, it should absolutely be lined. It felt cheap and scratchy. Next, it was not patterned for tall people and/or people with long torsos. I am both of those things and found myself tugging at the skirt to get where the elasticized waist should sit on me. As it sits, the elastic waist is well above my natural waistline which makes the skirt portion above my knees which I wanted to avoid. I specifically reached out for measurements on the skirt portion so as to confirm it wouldn't be a mini-skirt on me.
Let's move onto the pros. The cut from the waist up on this is incredible. The crisscross high neckline, the amazingly sturdy shoulder pads that give a fantastic 40's silhouette, to the long drapey arm sleeves, I was living. I also loved that, though the fabric felt cheap, there was some stretch to it. Dinner and drinks no problem. The color is also chef's kiss.
Consider lining it. There are other small brands like VV with the same price point that take this extra step for quality, and it makes all the difference. Three stars.
