FRANKIE BABY Campaign styled by V.V!

Frankie Baby is a fashion fusion of culture, art, and music all in one. It is a compilation of every thing late and great with a modern touch. Derek Santiago is the mastermind and artist behind Frankie Baby along with his partner Frank Antonio who is a world-renowned photographer. Santiago’s work is so diverse and inspired by so many different elements of culture and fashion that his tops cater to all types of people. Santiago creates “provocative visuals and blends experimental urban futuristic pinups filled with cultural mash-ups, musical eroticism, deep emotion, robotic fashion forwardness, exotically tanned curvaceousness with a twist of religious-spiritual-social consciousness”. This isn’t your normal T-shirt line that stands for nothing, this is about spreading knowledge, culture, beauty, color, love, and so much more. Santiago creates powerful works of art that speaks to the world, it goes unheard, and it goes unnoticed.

Frank Antonio has also captured the attention of people all over the world with his great photography techniques and his beautiful female models that continue to work with him. Frank has also shot celebrities like Jamie Fox, Busta Ryhmes, Fat Joe, Jagged Edge, Nicki Minaj, and Ray J. Franks beautiful images of women gave Santiago inspiration to create some of his portraits and from there they became a great team.

Santiago and I have a lot in common and this is why we have such a solid friendship. I like to clash eras and cultures within my own style and have been doing so for many years now. This is how “Vintage Vandalizm” came about in the first place. Both of us together make a wonderful team so he asked me to style his campaign. I was thrilled to do so and committed to the task. I understand him as a person and I also understand his vision because we both are inspired by so many of the same things. We are both Newyoricans with a love for pinups, culture, music, and everything in between. I had so much fun styling model Alana Marie for this shoot, she was such a sweet heart and so great to work with. I styled Alana from head to toe with great items from my own closet. I also did her makeup and hair for this shoot as well and everything turned out PERFECT. Check out some of the pics, videos of the cast, makeup tutorials, and other behind the scenes footage inside.

Here’s a snippet of the cast.

MAKEUP TUTORIAL

Learn how to create an effortless pinup look with minimal makeup!

Voila!

Angelita Top

Alana looked perfect and played the part perfectly! I dressed her in items from my own closet. In this look she is wearing American Apparel Disco Shorts, Agent Provocateur Diablo thigh highs, Top Shop Pumps, and costume from random thrift stores. I thought it would be hard to style someone around a top but Frankie Baby tees are full of so much life, color, and inspiration that it wasnt hard to create a high fashioned look. These tops are high quality with the most amazing art portraits by Santiago.

I had to mix it up by having her sport my Gazelle glasses.

She looked adorable!

Lipstick pen prop and a boom BOOM box!

I styled her hair and gave her a happy pompadour with these first 2 looks with minimal makeup. Pinup makeup is always classic and almost effortless. As you can see, Alana, didn’t need much makeup anyway.

In this look Alana is wearing American Apparel tights, a Vintage jacket from the salvation army, Agent Provocateur racing gloves, Nasty Gal shades, and neon orange pleaser fetish pumps. I wanted to give her a “pinup x Japanese racer” look, It may make no sense to you, but that was my inspiration behind this look. All we needed was a candy apple red sports car out back and it would have completed this look. She looked stunning!

Chanel Top

This is my favorite top from the Frankie Baby collection. I love the colors, the beauty of the womans face, the details of the earrings and the boom box, and the graffiti-like swirls. The first thing that came to mind when I saw this top was leopard. With this look I took Alana’s pompadour down and gave her cute victory rolls. I kept the sleek and chic makeup look but changed the color of her lipstick to a nice soft pink color by Mac. I dressed her in Betsey Johnson leopard leggings, my vintage pink sun glasses from the Salvation army, and Melody Ehsani chain linked pumps that I ADORE. You can never go wrong with leopard print and pink. Alana looked great!

Work it girl!

The entire look came out great!
