Classic in D&J Vintage for the JBRAND premiere.

I have been searching for the perfect vintage circle skirt for years now. Coming from the East coast my only hope has been ebay until I discovered D&J Vintage on Etsy. I actually met the merchant of D&J Vintage at the IFB conference and she was so incredibly sweet I just had to look at her Etsy store link on her twitter and was so blown away at her fabulous merchandise and her decent and reasonable pricing. I was in awe of many items in her shop but one item in particular stood out to me the most. It was this beautiful, colorful, vintage circle skirt that featured a floral print. It was just my size and in perfect condition. I just had to have it and when I tried it on it fit me like a glove. I was so psyched as this is my first wool circle skirt from the 40s/50s and it features all of the colors I love! I could not wait to wear it and finally decided to when I was invited to the StyleCaster’s premiere of JBrand at Bergdorf Goodman. Sometimes I wait for events just so I can wear the wonderful things I have in my closet lol. This was definitely the perfect event and I invited my friends Ingrid and Sarah to come with. My friends and I all have different personalities and a unique sense of style. Ingrid came to Bergdorf’s looking sassy and regal in a baby blue chain link cardigan, gold belt, nude pants, and brown boots and Sarah came militant in here Army top, khaki pants, and brown boots. Sarah’s Jacket was even Army Print and her makeup was flawless. I wore my new vintage skirt with an orange Zara blouse, a vintage necklace, my nude Steve Madden Pumps, my vintage brown doctors bag, cat-eye glasses, and jewelry. I love creating pin-up looks that aren’t so conventional. We all had a really good time networking and enjoying the clothes at the event and I even bumped into my friends Chris and Kristine there too! See photo’s and the history behind circle skirts inside :) Continue reading

NYFW: GEN ART Soiree & ROCK FREAK Hugo Boss Party.

New York fashion week was coming to a close and me and my girls wanted to end it with a BANG. Our first stop was a Gen Art Soiree at the Royalton hotel and after that we were off to Lavo for the Rock Freak Hugo Boss party DJ’d by Questlove and Cassidy. I had to get ready last minute because I was running around all day so I went into my vintage archives and pulled out a vintage jumpsuit Ive had sitting in my closet for years. I wanted a look that was powerful, masculine, and feminine at the same time. Something only a business woman with balls would wear. This jumpsuit was perfect. What’s great about it is the very low V-cut neckline that exposes lots of skin which added sex appeal to my androgynous look (cause this girl doesn’t want to look took masculine). I was vintage from head to toe in my fox fur stole, fox emblem belt, greek gold/brass studded earrings, black gloves, and my favorite black fedora. The fox belt and stole was such a great combination and everything about this outfit just fell so greatly together. My shoes, however, were not vintage but still oh-so-fabulous. They are by Yves Saint Laurent and I adore them because they are chic and comfortable. This is more of a simpler look for me but was definitely my favorite of all outfits I wore for fashion week this year (super ironic). I wish I could express fully how great a good outfit can make a woman feel. I like to wear things that evoke my strength and confidence and I just felt regal in this ensemble. My friends were no different and all looked incredible for our amazing night out. Check out some more photos inside. Continue reading

NYFW: Strange Vixens & MINY Arty Exhibit.

It was Valentine’s day and still fashion week here in NY so I spent the day city slickin with my gal pal Inimac painting the town RED. Strange Vixens was having a cute little fashion show at Webster hall and I always miss it every NYFW so I made sure I made it this time to show my support. Vianca the designer of Strange Vixens has always been so sweet and supportive towards my blog and always sends me goody bags even if I can’t make it. It was a no brainer that I had to attend as she is such a wonderful, kind-hearted, talented person. I was also excited to see my girl Raquel Reed perform a burlesque act at the show as well. Raquel is an alternative model and creative genius behind her looks, costumes, and performances andddd she sings! It was a pleasure to see the fashion show and the burlesque performance, we had a very good time. As soon as it ended we were off to 29 Greene to check out my boy Prince’s arty exhibit. We stood there for a little bit before we got hungry and headed to a cute cupcake shop to indulge in all of the sweets. After all it was Valentine’s day and what better way to spend it than with your girlfriend at a show and then finish the night with cupcakes and hot cocoa? Check out more photos inside.

Le Spec sunglasses!

Sunglasses are a woman’s secret weapon against dark circles and those days when you just don’t feel like putting an ounce of makeup on. With that said, we still want to look chic and cute behind our shades and this is why I am so stoked about my new Le Spec sunglasses. The print has an 80s feel to it but the style has a mod 60s round cat-eye structure. I love combining eras so it is no surprise I adore these shades. I got these from Sunglassesshop.com and have been wearing them to death ever since. I really adore this company and love the variety of shades they offer at amazing prices. Check out more photos of these shades below taken with my hipstamatic app!

NYFW: Betsey Johnson Fall 2012 Collection!

There is one show I look forward to every fashion week and it’s the Betsey Johnson fashion show. I can’t tell you how much fun I have every time I attend. I don’t just come, sit, watch, and leave. There is something different about the energy at BJ shows, and the people who attend. It is always a pleasure to see tons of people dressed up like we are all going to the same cocktail party. The music, the models, the outfits, the colors, and Betsey Johnson’s cartwheels are all of the wonderful things I look forward to every time I attend a show. Of course, this time was no different. It was everything I had hoped for and more. BJ had created a collection that channeled the late 60′s and early 70′s with a color palette I absolutely adored. Her collection featured fuchsia, teal, orange, and lime green colors that lightened up the catwalk for Fall. Models were dressed in mod shades, cute shabby furs, floral print dresses, sequin mini’s, leather suits, sweater dresses, and more. All of which made a statement every time a model stepped on the runway. Betsey Johnson has a way of creating clothing and accessories for the bold fashionista in all of us and what a true inspiration she has been allowing me with her pieces to be as bold as I want to be. We need more designers that bring the fun to fashion and BJ does that effortlessly. This show was astounding and I am so glad I was able to see it 3rd row next to pretty in pink Gala Darling. After the show, I headed back stage to take some behind the scenes footage and to see many of my friends from the company. I love them all so much and was so glad I got to see them. After all the madness at Lincoln center I was off to Stone Rose lounge at the Time Warner center for the after party. It was my absolute favorite night of NYFW because we had a BLAST! NYFW: Barbie Dream Closet!

Many of you already know how much I adore Barbie and I feel as if the universe has been conspiring ever since I was invited into the Bob Mackie showroom to collaborate with him on my giveaway and other future projects I cannot wait for. I was especially excited when I heard Barbie was collaborating with Lincoln Center’s new public space, the David Rubenstein Atrium for NYFW. The collaboration was called “Barbie‘s Dream Closet” and I wish I was able to attend their opening party but I can’t complain as I was able to go and see it 2 days out of the 4 days it was open. I cannot tell you how amazing the decor was, they had done such a wonderful job turning this space into what felt like a Barbie dream house. I swear I wanted to live there. Everything was pink and sparkly and there were life-size Barbie mannequins in classic Barbie attire. Shoes and clothes adorned the walls and flowers rose up from the marble floors. See how poetic I am getting talking about this place? The staff was even amazing and treated us so nicely as we tried on different outfits at Barbie‘s virtual closet and got our pictures taken. I swear I had a Clueless moment and had wished I had a virtual closet of my own so it would be easier to pick my outfits every day lol. The first time I attended I went with my aunt, dressed like Barbie of course, and you are going to see our pictures in this post. We had such a fun time there and it was so relaxing that we were able to just sit and talk there for a few hours as there was seating and a cute little cafe inside. It was ironic too because I remember fondly the times I played with my Barbie‘s at her house as a kid and how she would always take me to FAO Schwarz to see the beautiful Barbie‘s there. It was really nice to see her because we are very close but she lives kind of far. The second time I went with friends right after the Betsey Johnson fashion show. The second time I attended and brought my friends I actually met two lovely ladies that work for Mattel who were SO SWEET. I felt the universe was conspiring again as it is one of my dreams to collaborate with Barbie even if it meant interning for 5 years lol. Not that I would have to intern for 5 years but if that is what it would take, I certainly would do it. If you didn’t get to see the amazing job Mattel did with Barbie‘s Dream Closet at the Lincoln Center Atrium, you must see the photos I took inside! Continue reading

Happy Valentine’s Day!

I try to conduct cute little photo shoots on certain holidays where I style myself and my girlfriends as pinups. I look at it as a way to be creative and have fun at the same time. Also it is nice to get dolled up and take photos every once in a while. My friend Ingrid is one of my muses and I did a photo shoot of us on Valentine’s day last year so we thought we would take it to the next level for 2012. This is sort of like the pinup packages I offered back last year where I transform women into 50′s pinups and the photographer takes the photos. I cannot tell you how good it makes my clients/girlfriends feel when I doll them up and have their pictures taken. It’s kind of like the confidence you acquire when you wear something like lingerie. Which is why I bring to you the best of it all…Pinups in lingerie for Valentine’s day!

Check out more of the photos inside of Ingrid and I and have a wonderful Valentine’s day!
