Nails Did: Orly “Orange Punch” nail polish!

If you look at many of my past posts, my nails are almost always orange. Orange has become one of my favorite colors aside from Teal and I toggle them both when I paint my nails. This particular neon orange color is by Orly, it is called “Orange Punch” and it is my favorite to date. It really pops and matches most of my outfits despite it being such an obscure vibrant color. I also like to pair it with my Mattese “Swinger” lip stick. It is almost like a dark tinted neon orange. See more details below. This color is perfect for Fall and Winter. I find that it looks great with army green and gray colors.
My friend Enchante put me on to this lipstick. What I love about this lipstick is that it lasts and doesn’t bleed like a matte lipstick but has enough moisture that it lays soft on your lips instead of getting dry and flaky.

You can find both of these items at your local Ricky’s.

Stay tuned for next weeks color!

Versace for H&M

The Versace for H&M collection just launched a few days ago and aunt, uncle, and I were first in line for the madness. Now I have never waited on a line overnight for ANYTHING but this collection was more than worth it. I have to say I havent been impressed by a collaboration since Erin Fetherston for Target, but then there was Versace. I have been in love with Versace since I discovered them in High School. I own some cool vintage pieces that will never go out of style which was why I was so excited when I found out they were collaborating with H&M. I have to honestly say that Donatella gave this her all despite it being an affordable ready-to-wear collection. I feel that most designers who collaborate with affordable companies like H&M or Target, half-ass the designs and work more on the promotional aspects. This wasn’t the case with Versace as she designed a collection that looked expensive but costed very little to those hard-working penny-pinching fashionistas and fashionistos all over the world. Even the video Versace created for the H&M launch deemed impressive, it was a visual of what my brain looks like. She made sure the line was 100% true to the Versace aesthetic with tropical, regal prints, and lots of leopard. Even the men’s collection was to die for, I was so close to buying the men’s hot pink suit in the smallest size they had. I did purchase the blue leopard men’s tee to go with my palm tree leggings though, I couldn’t resist it. My hat goes off to Versace for creating such a flawless collection and I am so excited I got my hands on everything I wanted. I bought a men’s top, the palm tree leggings, the leopard and hot pink cameo skirt, the panther choker, and 2 different color scarves. I would have gotten the blue leopard jacket but felt it was one of those pieces I’d see everywhere on every one so I passed. I loved the dresses as well but as you all know I have a million and one dresses, I really just wanted to focus more on the things I didn’t already have that I could style my way.

To see the lookbook of the collection check inside!

My 25th Birthday Celebration at Blind Barber!

Last week, last-minute, my girl Valissa Yoe planned my birthday party at the Blind Barber. I have been working like a mad woman and hadn’t had any time at all to plan my big 25 but my girl Valissa came to the rescue and to top it off, she DJ’d too! I swear, my birthday was so wonderful I kept thinking something bad was going to happen. Everything fell into place and everyone came out to party even though it was a last-minute event. This birthday made me realize how blessed I am to have such wonderful people in my life who genuinely care about me. They made a conscious effort to make sure my day was special and I feel so fortunate to have all of you, even my readers who couldn’t attend, supporting me and loving me for who I am. I received so many birthday wishes it was nearly impossible for me to thank all of you but I tried my best to personally do so. If I missed any of you, just know I am truly thankful.

The Blind Barber was the perfect venue for my birthday party. The 1920′s barber shop setting tugged on my heart-strings and the lounge/bar in the back was no exception. My guests and I were greeted with the best hospitality and we had such an amazing time. Just going through the pictures makes me smile. We danced, we conversed, we laughed, and we ate delicious cupcakes from the Little Cupcake Shop on Prince Street thanks to my loving friends at Billy’s.

Take a look at more photos and details of my party and what I wore inside!

Pure Collection: It’s a Cashmeracle!

Many of us New Yorker’s know that this Winter is going to be a chiller and one of the things I like to stock up on during these months of torture is lots of cashmere. Nothing keeps me warm like a good cashmere sweater which is why I bring to you these women’s jumpers from Pure Collection. PC has the best selection of cashmere, I am personally a huge fan as I have many of their sweaters/jumpers already stocked up in my closet. The quality is what I look for and after buying my first jumper from PC, I was hooked. If you were wondering, “Jumpers” is a term loosely used in the 1950s and 60s to describe sweaters. I am glad Pure Collection still uses this term today and it inspired me to do this post about how you can incorporate these wonderful modern Pure Collection sweaters into a 1950′s look. I know Winter can be hard for fashionistas because you have to be in a coat, but this post is about staying in fashion during the coldest of times.

This is the cashmere round neck sweater by Pure Collection. This wonderfully soft pure cashmere classic sweater has neat ribbed trims to give it a clean, modern feel. It comes in many colors but this teal is my favorite. It can be worn old-fashioned like the image below. You can wear the PC cashmere round neck sweater with a cute plaid skirt and a small fur stole that hugs your neckline like the image above. I would go with a wool skirt to keep you warm and maybe some tights or stockings for your legs. This is the Pure Collection Raglan sleeve sweater. I love how it is cropped and neat with a deep rib at the waist, this seasons cable sweater works perfectly dressed up or down. In soft lambswool and cashmere. It also comes in many colors and can be worn old-fashioned like the image below. What I love about the Pure Collection raglan sweater is that you can wear a white button down underneath and pair it with a high-waisted skirt like this image. I love this entire outfit and would wear the PC sweater just like this. This is Pure Collection’s cashmere sweatshirt and I would wear it exactly like the image above as well as the image below. Sometimes I don’t want to get all dolled up and have a more laid back look. This is a deluxe take on a classic sweatshirt, this comes in pure cashmere with a relaxed shape, three quarter sleeves and graduated rib detail at the neck. If you are a glamazon like myself, you can also wear it like the image below. You can take the cashmere sweatshirt and stretch it to your hips, belt it, and lap it over a cute pencil skirt for a wonderful work outfit or just to be sexy and chic :) .
Last but not least is Pure Collection’s Merino blend cropped round neck cardigan. I feel like I need a cardigan in every color to match every dress I own. This is a versatile wardrobe staple designed to fit neatly at the waist, this flattering cropped cardigan has deep rib trims, three quarter sleeves and a simple round neckline and can be worn old-fashioned like the image below.

The Merino cardigan can be worn with trousers or tapered pants like this. I also like how the woman in the image above is also wearing gloves. How posh! The Merino blend cropped round neck cardigan comes in a color called Blue Haze if you want to reenact this look.

Betsey Babe!

I snagged so many things at the last Betsey Johnson sample sale that I am still wearing certain items I purchased for the first time like this amazing “Betsey Babe” printed sweater-coat. At first I thought pairing it with the matching leggings would be a bit much but my sense of style is always a bit over the top, why limit myself now? I actually really love this outfit, I have the dress, leggings, jacket, and cardigan in this print as well. I just feel the leggings were more fitting than the dress this time around. I wanted to add some dark contrasts so I paired this coat and leggings with my new Jeffrey Campbell Tardy black boots I just got for my birthday. I have been dying to get these boots for forever and finally got my hands on them. They are so comfortable and match everything. Underneath it all I had on a simple thermal white shirt to keep me warm for those cold nights at Billy’s. My earrings are also by Betsey Johnson, I can’t help it, she tugs on my fashion-heart-strings with everything she creates. This coat is so elegant with the faux fur trim. I like to belt everything so I belted it to accentuate my waist.I love my boots! I kinda want them in every color. They also match my Betsey Johnson biker gloves :) .
The platform makes me 5’6 :D lololThese are my Betsey Johnson door knocker earrings. They had skulls on them but I didn’t like it so I took them off. They are perfect now. They remind me of egyptian pyramids.
I kept it simple underneath. Crazy prints need a bit of simplicity. I love that my leggings are high-waisted.Later on that day I met this lovely lady Lanz, who is a rapper that shot some footage at Billy’s. She is really talented and did a great job shooting her video. I have a little cameo in it as one of her girl friends lol. That was fun.

Good times!

Nails did: Butter “Chancer” red nail polish!

Since many of you always ask me about my makeup and nail polish colors, I am going to start a segment on VV.com documenting all of my beauty tricks, tips, and details. This segment is called “Nails did” where I will be showcasing my nails and the details behind the brands and colors I use. Ever since attending the IFB conference and visiting the Minx booth where I was given a goodie bag with Nail polish by Butter London, I have been HOOKED. At minx I was given a Butter color called “Yummy Mummy” that I have been wearing for about a month now and I never got tired of it until I received “Chancer” on my birthday from my good friend Enchante. Chancer is a beautiful red glitter polish that glows like Dorothy’s shoes in the Wizard of Oz. My girl Enchy knowssss her nails like nobody’s business and she knew I would die when I tried this beautiful glitter red.
How pretty is this! My nails will never be the same dull red again!
Who doesn’t love a bit of sparkle?

Go get your hands on some Butter London polish today!

Thank you Enchante! <3
