Last week I was invited to the a Levi’s x Lookbook party at the Wythe Hotel in Brooklyn so I invited my friends Queena and Ingrid to come and have fun. It was the perfect girls night and exactly what I needed after a few hectic months of more work than play. I also wanted to take my new haircut out for a spin. It’s a LOB (long bob) and I am so in love with it! I can tell you that my head definitely weighs a thousand pounds less because this mop is so heavy! Anyway, Queena and I got to the event first and played around at the photo booth till my Inimac arrived. Bosco always has the best photo booths and I love that I always get to leave with photos of some of my best nights with my best gal pals. It was also fun that we got to decorate them with cool Levi’s stamps. There were other activities we could have participated in if we would have brought our 501′s but we were all coming from work so we admired everyone else’s designs while dancing to tunes the Dj played. After an awesome night of crafts and dancing we went to the Meatball shop where we enjoyed some great italian dishes. It has become one of my favorite places to wine and dine in Brooklyn and their snicker doodle cookie & ice cream dessert is the bomb.com! Bosco photos on the big screen! DJ play my song!
I have pretty friends . This is Queena and she is a bomb stylist! Can’t you totally tell? I love her to the death of me! Decorating our photos! Lol mine looks crazy. Fresh to death! Great Gatsby style with BPC!

Everyone is raving about the new Great Gatsby film and I CANNOT wait to see it! I haven’t had much time to do so with such a hectic schedule the past two weeks but plan to indulge as soon as I get the chance because I absolutely loved the book! The 1920s is one of my favorite eras because I feel it is just as glamorous as the 1950s. I feel it was the darkest elegant era of our time. The shapeless dresses, the beautiful jewelry, the pearls, the turbans and headdresses, the skinny brows and dark lips, and the beautiful fingerwaves and sleek short bobs are all a staple of the 20s that inspires me greatly. I am excited to see how this film inspires fashion lovers all over the world to incorporate these stables into their modern looks! With that said, I teamed up with Bettie Page Clothing to talk about some of their pieces that have that 1920s flair you can sport in Great Gatsby fashion. Though they are mostly known for their mid-century inspired threads, they have quite a few gems whose style dates even farther back in time.

In the 1920s swimwear wasn’t what it is today. Women were more covered and their swimwear looked like regular clothing you would wear on a casual day. Their were no itty bitty teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikinis. Their were just loose-fitting tops and bottoms and even stockings for the beach. Women even wore shoes to the beach! Crazy right? Well, don’t fret, you don’t have to go the extra mile by wearing stockings and shoes to the beach but you can wear the Bettie Page Beach Bash Sheek pullover blouse with a cute hat that resembles this beautiful 1920s photo above! The 20s were all about glamour so everything was adorned with gems, jewels, sequins, beads, and etc. The creativity of our yester-years is astounding. The craftsmanship and the time they put into creating works of art is something rarely done today. The shoes were not as high as they are today but still looked so sexy. The most important part of your 20s inspired outfit are the gems you wear it with. I feel the 20s were the leaders in fine, creative, and glamorous jewelry. The old photo above shows a beautiful woman wearing the prettiest long dangled earrings that remind me so much of the Bettie Page Notorious earrings shown below. I also think you can pull of a Great Gatsby look with the Bettie Page Model of the Century earrings and bracelet. That forest green is lovely!And how could we forget the PEARLS? Pearls were the most important staple of 1920s fashion. Women wore them long and short, doubled and tippled, draped over their fabulous shapeless dresses. This one is inspired by an awesome photoshoot I did with my girl Revecka of Delicious Dames last winter. I feel so fortunate to have collaborated with such incredibly talented women who inspire me as much as I inspire them and I am so happy I get to add this new piece to my collection of portraits that I will treasure forever! The Manhattan Vintage Show!

Thanks to my good friends over at D&J Vintage, I was able to attend the Manhattan Vintage show with my momma. I went almost a year ago and have been hooked ever since! Though the prices are a bit steep, you are always guaranteed to see great vintage pieces. I always leave with something every time I go and I never attend without my favorite shopping partner miss Mama Vandalizm. She enjoys it just as much as I do. I think this time was our best time at the MVS because we met some really great vintage dealers and got to support our friends from D&J Vintage who had their very own booth for the first time ever! I took many pictures and scoured through many different booths but some of them stood out to me more than most. I met some wonderfullllllll people who had such great personalities that matched their great eye for vintage picking. I went to MVS with no intentions of buying anything this time but ended up with some fascinating vintage pieces that are some of my best to date. Some of my best picks came from the “What was is Vintage” booth. My mother and I received such sweet hospitality and really loved Neal and Judy Bergman. They had exactly what I was looking for and I ended up with 4 great pieces from their booth. First I found an AMAZING brocade dress on their sale rack that fit me like a glove. Then, I found..not one, but TWO spectacular vintage bikinis that fit me perfectly at their booth. I have been searching for the perfect vintage bikini for such a long time, I mean YEARS. Finally I have something to bring with me to Viva next year! As if that was it, I also found a vintage 3 piece playsuit that fit me to the T! It was a quadruple whammy that I got 4 great finds at one booth! It really started off my day of with a smile. After that we went over to the D&J Vintage booth to see my favorite vintagers Jan’ell and D. They have a really great eye for vintage and I realized how amazing they were when I modeled for them a few months ago and saw their collection. I nearly died every time I modeled one of their pieces and wanted to take everything home with me. Rummaging through their racks I noticed some of the pieces I modeled, particularly this yellowish a-line neck tie dress. Needless to say, I ended up leaving with it because I remembered how it made me feel when I modeled it for their shop. I just had to have it and I can now add that to my favorite vintage finds which always end up coming from the D&J Etsy shop. I really adore them as much as I adore their vintage and I hope all of you who attended the show got to visit their booth! After that, I thought I was done. I swore I was done. That is until I stumbled upon the Algamated Vintage booth. My mom and I bought some great vintage pieces from them last year and this year I found an AMAZING dress that had a tribal animal print adorned with tiny sequins. I cannot WAIT to wear it. I have to say, the owners from Algamated are also always very sweet. They have vintage that is earlier than the 1940′s and in such great condition. On our way out I bumped into some familiar faces like Antonio and Sonya Abrego over at Dated Vintage who had an AWESOME Vintage varsity jacket. It was green, reversible, and had the name “Viv” on the front. It was perfect but I had already did my shopping for the day. After making my final lap around the pavilion I was done for the day till I fell in love with a fridge. Yup, my next investment . See photos inside of my favorite booths at the show!

Of course I wore vintage for the Vintage show! Here is the vintage magazine print skirt I bought in Vegas paired with my orange Banana Republic top.Here is the print up close. I just love wearing the color orange! These are my vintage shades I won on Ebay and my vintage earrings I snagged over at D&J Vintage. My purse is also an ebay purchase from almost a year ago. It has a matching hat!My outfit was complete with my Miu Miu 1950s inspired brown sling back mules.Lets get it started! Gold gold gold!GOD BLESS AMERICA. First stop! WHAT WAS IS VINTAGE! I absolutely loved their booth and will go again to the next MVS just to shop their again. Here are some of the interesting things I saw at their booth. Shoes! Earrings!Fascinating fascinators!
Gloves in all colors! Here is one of the swimsuits I found at the What Was Is Vintage booth. IT IS AMAZING and I am squealing just looking at this photo while I am typing this! 3 pieces! A robe, a top, and the shorts that can be worn as a swimsuit or a playsuit! This is the other vintage swimsuit I bought there! This one is tropical and a 3 piece as well! I love love love it and can’t wait to wear it! And my last vintage find at their booth was this amazing playsuit! I mean, look at it! The top is gorge, the shorts are awesome, and I have an option to wear the skirt! It is candy striped too! Alas, here is that awesome vintage brocade dress I found on their sale rack! I am IN LOVE! I had to take a pic with Judy Bergman of “What Was Is Vintage”. Her and Neal were so kind and such amazon vintage dealers. They had incredible stuff and really made our day extra special. If any of you attend next year, you MUST check out their booth.Now we have approached the D&J Booth! Weeeee! Look at their business cards! Does that lady look familiar? And can we talk about this vintage bandana collar?
The D&J booth had a steady rotation of customers and I am not surprised! They have such great accessories!Purses, hats, and earrings galore!
Hat boxes and hand bags! Looks like this customer found herself a sweet sweater! This lovely little lady Carla also found herself loving some of D&J’s pieces! They both have great eyes for vintage! Love these patterns!The lovely Jan’ell of D&J Vintage looking lovely as per usual. She is seriously such an incredible person aside from being a vintage enthusiast. Her and her husband are the some of the most wonderful people I have ever met. Many of my best vintage pieces are from them.
I can add this dress to my list of best finds now thanks to them!
After hanging out at the D&J booth I came across this cool vintage eyewear booth that had some pretty gnarly frames like these.
Speaking of gnarly, look at these vintage Coca Cola shorts! Off to Algamated Vintage! Look at these prints! The Algamated booth is also a very popular booth at the MVS. They have really great vintage pieces that are in pristine condition! Heaven!Love this vintage wolf print shirt at their booth!
However, there was only one lady that was coming home with me and that was this vintage dress! I cannot wait to show you all what it looks like ON. On over to Dated Vintage where I fell in love with that vintage varsity jacket.. Isn’t she a beauty? Can I take her home!? Here is the rest of their awesome stuff! The Dated Vintage King and Queen. Retro Kids Clothes!

If you are a rockabilly mama who loves retro threads and always wished you could find cute vintage reproduction clothes for your children, fret no more! Bettie Page Clothing has released an oh-so-adorable kids line that features mother-daughter matching dresses! They also created a collection for boys that features retro shirts but it hasn’t been released on the website yet. I nearly died when I visited the store on Bowery and saw the collection in person. These dresses are so adorable they make me want to have children (EEEEk). Ok, so I wouldn’t go that far but damn they are so cute. This colorful, comfortable, and wonderful collection is a great and innovative way to introduce the wonderful world of vintage to your children because we all know It isn’t easy to find good vintage clothes for kids that have been preserved and cared for. I can’t wait to start seeing a bunch of little nuggets running around in Bettie Page sun dresses and retro shirts. I mean, just take a look at these photos of the girls collection! So cute I can’t take it!

Viva Las Vegas: Day 6!

It was my last day in Vegas and the Viva Las Vegas convention was over. Normally, I am instantly sad about it but since we were planning to spend our last day at the Neon Museum, I had much to be happy about! I love that all of these priceless Vegas gems of old neon signs have been preserved instead of thrown away. It was a brilliant idea to have them set up in one place for the world to see. They call it the neon graveyard and I have to say, it was a great tour and our guide inspired us with stories about each sign. The typography and creativity of each piece was just breathtaking and it made Vegas that much more special. Never been to the Neon Museum? BAIT at the Bettie Page Store!

BAIT footwear (But another Innocent tale) has landed at the Bettie Page Clothing store here in NYC and I am IN LOVE! The great part about the 50s is that women didn’t have to wear sky-high heels, and somehow they still made a kitten heel look sexy. Don’t get me wrong, I do love my sky-high heels. However, it is nice to find comfortable 2 to 3 inch heels that look just as sexy. BAIT shoes embody the best of 50s and 60s style with a versatile collection of comfortable pumps and I am so glad I can find them at the Bettie Page Store. Now that BPC has BAIT shoes, I can dress myself head-to-toe at the shop without ever having to scour through the rest of the city for great accessories to match my beautiful dresses. Love BAIT shoes but don’t know which Bettie Page dress to wear them with? Don’t fret! I am going to show you some of my favorite BAIT shoes I recently came across at the shop along with the great BPC dresses you can pair them with!

These Ida P.Blue spectator kitten heels are one of my favorites. While walking around soho last week, I saw a woman wearing these glamorous Miu Miu sunglasses and fell in love with them. Hers were pink and reminded me of Barbie but I knew that if they came in pink, they had to have made other colors too. To cure my curiosity, I decided to search for them at the Sunglasses Shop. Low and behold, I found them right away and in..RED! If Dorothy was real, she’d be walking around Soho in these sunglasses instead of her ruby-red slippers. Hell, she’d probably even wear them together. I dig them either way. Do you?
