La Femme Feline

As a kid I was always into art, there wasn’t one moment I spent away from my sketch books drawing and mimicking my favorite artists from the comics I collected. I wasn’t interested in Batman, Superman, or Spiderman. I gravitated towards the strong and powerful female characters/super heroes like Cat Woman, Glory, Tank Girl, Wonder Woman, Dawn, Tomb Raider, Fathom, Witchblade, and more. I idolized them and wanted to be a little force to be reckoned with myself. Cat woman started it all. I was enamored by her image and it is crazy to still be inspired by her now (excluding the cat woman we see in these terrible modern films). As I got older and fell in love with the rockabilly culture, I found out that cat woman was inspired by Jean Harlow. The more I did research I realized I wasn’t the only one inspired by these femme fatals. My favorite era was full of sex kittens like Eartha Kitt, Ava Gardner, Julie Newmar, Bettie Page, and many more all channeling their inner fierce feline. Inspired by all of the powerful cats before me, I decided to channel my own inner feline in some of my new vintage threads. Here are the photos along with my favorite ferocious pinups!

Like the Aristocrat’s- Everybody wants to be a cat!

XOXO!

  1. meow! Im a big feline lover too! In grade 10, my first high school year, I wore cat ears every day even though I got teased like crazy ( that is, until a kid stole and broke them).
